Car insurance hike!!

I think there are a few of these queries recently but if anyone can help I would be so grateful! Obviously you expect your car insurance to go up a little each year, my renewal letter came from current insurers saying they were unable to obtain a new quote for me. I have then been on several comparison sites to get quotes & it is just crazy!! I’ve gone from paying £37 a month, excess £400 total including voluntary - new insurance quotes coming out at £102 a month with £800 + excess charges. I have made no claims in over 22 years, there has been no worse crime or anything in my area. To say I work from home most days & barely drive my car it just seems like something has happened! Any ideas or anyone I can contact to query? TIA 🙏🏻

You'll find them all the same, unfortunately. I had a quote 48% higher than last year with the same risk/same value/no claims etc. I upped my voluntary excess & reduced annual mileage and managed to get the rise down to 'only' 24% and I firmly believe that was the best I was going to do.
Apparently the poor insurance companies have been under covering and people have been claiming too much. ;-S0 -
I just don’t understand, there is no option for me to have a low excess I selected £150 but no options come back low like this. My partner renewed last week & his only went up by £5 a month or so. 🤯0

all I can say is use the comparison sites, I did & found what I've already said. According to forums/newspapers recently all motor insurance has absolutely leapt, although a friend claimed their camper van insurance went down.0

Yep, definately gone up.
Same car same company No claims or anything changed year on year.
2020................ £404
2021................ £425
2022................ £327
2023................ £697
113% increase on last year. Strange they put it down £98... 21-22

And has the excess hiked with it no option to have it lower? Mine would be…
£444 2022 £400 all excess
£1224 2023 £1200 all excess (no option to change)
same car same address no claims etc0 -
it just seems like something has happened! It has.
Second hand car values have sky rocketed (so claims payouts on totlal loss are higher)
Shortage of parts, in particular electronics, which means cars can often not be repaired cost effectively and end up getting written off. Or where repairs have been authorised, the delays mean the hire cars are being held onto longer
Shortage of hire/courtesy cars
Increase in servicing costs (energy cost and staff cost)
Removal of early year discounting.Any ideas or anyone I can contact to query?Either you accept the quote (a phone call to the provider may knock of a small amount) or you shop around and accept an alternative.
