Help cancel CoverMy Breakdown having so much hassle

Please can someone help me with CoverMy Breakdown.

I have tried numerous times to contact them with a change of vehicle since selling the original one on the policy. They never answer the phone. I have emailed and written a number of times and nothing has come back apart from a response to call.

You can not make the changes online either!

Today I have had an email to say the policy will auto renew on the 20th August and to call if I wish to cancel that.

I have tried calling yesterday but the phone line was down.

Today I have called four times and been in a supposed queue at most 30 minutes before I gave up and chose option 5 where apparently someone will call me back. They have no called me back!

I have emailed their admin email address and made it clear that I do not want my policy to be renewed but I fear that means nothing.

Can I call my credit card company and say not to process payment?

How can I get rid of this shocking company!

Please help as I am just despairing now.

You can call your credit card person and advise you want them to cancel the CPA however banks are very bad at doing this and most will tell you that you have to speak to the merchant instead.

Obviously cancelling your payment doesnt stop the auto-renewal, it will be renewed and then cancelled for non-payment which you will then have to declare to other insurers in the future. You need to follow the process in your renewal email.

Not sure why you hangup after 30 minutes only to call again later? You say you've been on hold 2hrs so far whereas had you not hung up you may have been on hold for 45 minutes, then spoken to someone and then got it sorted.

Thanks for the reply. I had to hang up at various times because my work requires my attention. That said it should not be acceptable in this day and age that a reputable company is not providing online means or other ways of communication. Should I had been in the need of breakdown assistance I really would be in stuck.

I have since this posting spoke to the credit card company and placed a preventive hold just in case. Then after some digging around found another number which did not get me to the right department but at least was an in with a human who then got me through to where I needed.

I have now got it in writing from them that it will not auto renew.

I would not use CoverMy again but that is my personal opinion.

They almost certainly will have a different telephone number for claims to renewals; staffing levels of one line doesnt automatically follow that the other lines are similarly understaffed as you've found by getting through on the other number.
