Land Registry - voluntary 1st registration

Our house was purchased 40 years ago and is therefore not registered with Land Registry. Does anyone have any experience of doing the voluntary registration themselves OR know a firm that does this registration at a reasonable cost?

I did a compulsory first registration on *this place myself. Had all the conveyancing documents (and title plan) to hand to show a clear line of ownership from when the place was built back in 1928/9. Just listed each one in chronological order on the relevant form and submitted the whole pack to the LR. Wasn't difficult in the slightest.Your biggest problem will probably be the ID1 form and jumping through hoops to get your identity confirmed - I managed to avoid the need for an ID1 as the registration & transfer was part of a probate, so my identity had been checked & confirmed by HM Court. If you go to a solicitor/conveyancer, they may want to do searches and extras to bump up the cost and justify a steep fee. If there is a problem with the title (i.e. missing documentation), it could be worth getting a professional to look it over for an opinion. Her courage will change the world.

Speak to a local conveyancing firm and see if they'll give you a quote.0
