But going on the measurements you give that gives a volumetric weight of just over 35kg. 

Customers are expected to work out the volumetric weight, they just put in L W D & kg and the site gives a price, for the couriers that have volumetric pricing the price will be calculated by those inputs. 

Either OP's measurements were off as per martindow or the parcel has been incorrectly measured by the courier.

Unfortunately they don't seem to reply to bad reviews, I like the way their website implies they have 5 star reviews when they have 3.9
