Companies House

My details have been used fraudulently to create a new company, making me Director, Secretary and Person of significance. In turn this has led to credit card applications, which thankfully were flagged and the application did not succeed. How in this day and age can Companies be opened with no checks made? Companies House advise they take all applications in good faith. It has taken months and lots of forms to have my name removed as Director and Secretary but I am told I need a Court order to remove me as a person of significance. Has anyone else experienced similar?

I've heard of fake companies being set up at someones address, it's common.
But I've not seen someones personal details used as in your case. It may be someone you know if they know your personal details
  • No I don’t think so, after fighting with the information rights department I am told it was a gmail email address used and done through a company called 360 Company Formations. I tried to make contact with them but after acknowledging my initial email they seem to be avoiding replying to me.
  • I honestly don’t know what the point of companies house is. I recently reported a fraudulent company and they told me that they accept all info in good faith and will do nothing about it. The director of this company had been made bankrupt a few years ago yet remained a director. They didn’t even have the insolvency against his name in companies house. They told me if I had a problem to call the police (as if they would help when they don’t even investigate burglaries).
I don’t know why the tax payer should be funding companies house when the information held on it is worth nothing.

debstep did you have any luck getting a court order? I'm in the same position and have no idea where to start or how much it's going to cost? I really would love to avoid paying 1000s to sort out a mess of not my own making.
