Letter from Stepchange for Mortgage

Options
I finished a DMP back in October last year and have used a mortgage broker to find a mortgage for a property. I have a mortgage in principle in place, but the mortgage supplier is now asking for further details regarding my DMP. I have sent a breakdown of all payments over the last 12 months, but they now want a letter from Stepchange stating the dates it was from and to and that it has all been paid off.

I understand Stepchange are able to provide this information, and the DMP has been paid off, in full. Am I right in thinking that this is normal practice for buyers who have been on a relatively recent DMP?

I can't say whether it's normal practice but if there are still unexpired defaults on your credit report (as you'll know, they stay on your report for six years from the date of issue), it's not unreasonable for a mortgage lender to require some extra reassurance that your debt problems are behind you before they risk lending many tens of thousands of pounds. I'd just get StepChange to send the required letter and hopefully that'll be that.
