Credit Card and Bingo

in Credit cards
I was at my local bingo hall last night and I tried to pay for my bingo books with my Pulse credit card, which I have previously used so that I get cashback but the card was declined.
I just paid cash but is it now not possible to pay for bingo/gambling using a credit card?
I asked the cashier but all she knew was that my card was declined but not why
As I did not wish to hold up the queue I just got my books and went to sit down and play bingo and then won £225.
