Morning everyone 😊
I was rudely awoken at 5.30am by magpies squabbling on my bedroom window sill, but they've gone as it is raining heavily again.
I spent yesterday watching the women's football (England were just good enough) and pottering before my DB, DSiL & DN came over. They'd brought a Gusto meal to cook, a sausage & oven chips thing with apple coleslaw, which was really nice. I baked my chocolate pudding and there is a portion left for me today 😋
Today will be much of the same - monsoons outside mean no gardening so I might start patching my denim jacket Japanese style with fabric & embroidery.
Hope everyone has a good day!

Good morning, thanks for starting Floss.
It's raining heavIly here as well, what an awful morning. I'm sitting with a fleece over my legs, I don't expect to be doing that in July!
We were out all day yesterday at Dd's, they were having a garden party, with family, friends and neighbours, at their cottage in Weardale. The weather wasn't as bad as today, it rained a bit but stopped later, and it was quite bright.
In true British fashion we were outside all day, until the weather deteriorated again, and we left at about 8pm.
The party had been planned for weeks, such a pity after all the warm weather we've had that it rained.
Not much going on today, just doing housework.
Hope everyone has a good day whatever you are doing.11 -
Morning All
Not raining yet but could be at any minute! I got some washing dried outside yesterday but the rest of the bedding from my little visitors is either hanging inside or waiting to be done.
DS1 came early yesterday and left with the children just after an early lunch, I spent the rest of the day tidying up then just slobbing about on the sofa. I'm still struggling with this cold so it was nice to relax.
I'm off up to Glasgow this morning with some friends, we're doing the Glasgow Central Station tour and then on to the Banksy exhibition, we'll go for lunch when we've finished.
Shame your day was a bit wet Scarlet but glad you enjoyed it.
Thinking of Ruby out there in the heat.
Hugs to anyone in need.
Hope you have a happy and peaceful Sunday, take care. XX10 -
Morning early birds. It's been a really muggy night here so I've had the duvet off, the duvet over my middle, the duvet over my feet and then the duvet back on all of me, in rotation all night. 😀
My visit to friends was very pleasant. The husband is really into sailing so a lot of the chat was about boats, he's also very personable and had rowed across the loch to say hello to a chap who had an anchored a 'pretty' boat overnight just across from his house. That made me smile. It looks as if the rain may swerve round here again and the forecasted temperature is a mighty 20°, I'm not convinced but will probably do a washing and hang it out.Floss - noisy magpies make bad alarm clocks. I hope that you can catch up with your sleep later.Scarlet- how lucky that your garden party wasn't spoiled.Camelot - you'll love both events. I'm booked to see Banksy next week so would interested in your thoughts.Happy Sunday to all.8 -
Morning folks and thanks FLOSS. Yesterday was a day of half and half. Rain all morning but fine all afternoon. Then I was woken up through the night with heavy rain bashing against the window. Fine again just now but rain is imminent again and due to last all day. We have had some rubbish summers over the years but never as wet as this one. Such a shame after the lovely weather we had in June.
It's bed change this morning but as usual the wet washing will be over the airer. Pegging out seems a thing of the past. After all my moaning though I would rather be here than in the scorching temps over Europe. I hope RUBY is coping with it and not near any of the wildfires breaking out over Greece.
As usual it will be a Slothful Sunday here. After the bed has been re-made and the bedding washed it will be a feet up afternoon I expect., Have a good day all if you can and ((HUGS)) for all in need of them. Take care and stay safe xx"If you dream alone it will remain just a dream. But if we all dream together it will become reality"9 -
For the last few days
good outing to Sutton Hoo with my history group,I hobbled round the exhibition which has been updated since I last went .
then had lunch ,looked at secondhand books and just sat and admired View
Fortunately it’s not that long since I last visited so have seen house and burial site fairly recently
Usual Saturday Coffee yesterday morning with friends ,put the world to rights
then out yesterday evening at a quiz ,we came second ,we’re happy as never win this one but ran the ( usual) winners close .
was pleased I’d remembered to leave the outside light on ,v dark and wet when I got home .
My washing has been vert well rinsed over the last few days ! I will rescue it this morning and put the airier up ,I’m aware how much luckier we are than those in Europe ,10 -
Morning everyone and thank you for starting us off Floss.
It looks like being another wet/grey day here.
I have nothing planned, so am having a tidy up of freezer/cupboards.
Hope you all have a good Sunday. x10 -
Morning..It's a cool monring today, yesterday it rained on and off all day, today looks like more of the same. Nothing much happening today, I just took some chicken out of the freezer for us to have as cutlets after, I've been diligently saving the hard bread t make breadcrumbs] and there are salad potatoes form the neighbour in the fridge to use. We went out to a birthday celebration last night, didn'tdrink though but it was nice to see some familiar faces and do some chatting...found another fellow gardener who is also a bit of a womble, so I'm just reinforcing my own proclivities amongst friends
I have nothing planned today and there is no need to leave the house, feeling a bit insular today, don't really want to do anything, go anywhere or see anyone. I got some cheap room divider type things to put in the windows for now, just so I don't have to sit here in the dark in the night because there aren't any curtains up. I'm hoping some of my oomph will return next week so I can do some clearing of stuff. I might make a soup too, there's plenty of veg in the fridge to use.
Floss, and they have suh ugly shouting noises too, hope you get a nap later..your jacket sounds cool. I've got a kimono I've put a frieze on the bottom of that I've been meaning to do a sashiko effect on for ages. Show us a pic when it's done!Scarlet, how lovely..glad you had a nice time despite the rain. camelot, that all sounds really interesting too, have fun! Gers, a 'pretty' boat? the mind boggles
TA, I'm with you ont he rain should stop now for a bit..only because the weather is so weird, I'm hot or cold several times a day because I haven't a clue whether to dress for Greek Island weather or beginning of December weather. As a result I'm robing and disrobing all day. Very confusing. I@m actually sitting here in a linen dress thing and a fleecy dressing gown and I'm cold.. dp1, I'd recommend the Curry Guys website if you need some help. Take care all, it's grumpy out there....

Morning all. Sunshine has alternated with clouds since I got up but no doubt there will be rain later.
Have washed up the bits that needed to be done by hand and put one load of washing in the machine so far. I have 3 things that didn't get ironed yesterday so they went back in the airing cupboard.
Yesterday's planned Thai curry was moved on to today, as we weren't hungry enough last night. I did, however, make an experimental pudding, as I had picked up a bag of crushed kit kat bits from the Larder; probably commercial left overs. I put them in a shallow buttered dish as a bottom layer and then added some raspberries that were getting too soft and poured a raspberry jelly over it all. Needless to say most of the bits floated to the top but it was a fun thing to do and will see us for puddings for the next few days, with a bit of cream poured over.
Today will be weather dependent but I'd like to get out if possible. Also want to see if there's any chance of the Test Match coming to a conclusion - hopefully in England's favour!
Happy Sunday everyone.9
