Motor accident - recovery & storage fees
Hi,
I had an accident. The vehicle is drivable - just parts of bodywork fell off.
I rang insurance to file a claim and they arranged for recovery van to come & collect my vehicle.
All good I thought....until I got a letter saying that I will have to pay £195 recovery fee and £22 per day storage fee!
I was not aware of this and I always assumed insurance would cover this.
What are your thoughts please?
Thanks.

Who is the letter from?0

Lancaster Gate Assistance.
I was not aware that what the fees were and that I would be liable to pay for this. I was told over the phone prior to the recovery that this would be claimed against the third party, so this has came to me as a complete surprise.0 -
You pay nothing, the costs are part of the claim and will be covered by insurance. If you get any invoices pass them to your insurance to deal with,

My thoughts exactly. The thing is the invoice is from the insurance themselves, which is why this is so odd.daveyjp said:You pay nothing, the costs are part of the claim and will be covered by insurance. If you get any invoices pass them to your insurance to deal with,

Reading google it seems like the insurance IS liable to cover the recovery fees. Common sense really. Looks like i'll need to email the insurance firm.0 -
You said it's from Lancaster Gate Assistance. They're a claim management company, not a insurer.woodsford said:

Pass the invoice to your actual insurer.0 -
Whose fault was the accident? Were there other vehicles involved?woodsford said:I had an accident. The vehicle is drivable - just parts of bodywork fell off.

Who did you phone? Your broker? Insurer? Was it your vehicle insurer or your breakdown insurer?
If the vehicle was drivable why was it recovered?0
