Water Cut off near Malaga

You might be feeling that this "no overnight water" is your holiday from hell.
If this is a local authority restriction, it is not only affecting you but others in the area also, whether on holiday or permanent residence.
The energy cut-outs may be similar.
We will all face similar restrictions as local supply and demand are out of balance for water and energy and cannot be easily remedied. Particularly water where too much or too little causes grief and water is a very local resource. I am sure the local authority assessed various options for restricting demand and the overnight curfew is likely to have been seen as the least damaging solution.0 -
How long has the water restriction been in place? Locals may not even have considered it more than a minor inconvenience and not even thought it necessary to inform potential visitors. I may be unfair, but suspect the OP is looking for a way to cut the holiday, obtain a refund and get back home due in part to the excessive heat.

The necessary evacuations of holidaymakers from Rhodes, which have just been flagged up on TV news, puts other inconvenience issues into perspective.

Incidentally the booking agency has now raised a case against the owner for not being upfront about this.0 -

Some holidaymakers have had their holiday spoiled. I am sure it is very frightening, but the press are reporting this as an absolute disaster for the holidaymakers.
Some locals have had their homes, livelihoods, businesses, communities absolutely totally destroyed and will need to live with the effects for the long term. The (British) press seems to make no reference to this far greater impact and only contemplates a spoiled holiday.
The holidaymakers will simply get a flight back in a week or so and then be able to resume life where they left off. No where near as quick or easy for the locals.6 -
Annoying I can see but a ruined holiday I can't.Not sure what you would have done if you'd known in advance. I'm guessing the owner doesn't get a rebate on their water bill because of the cuts because it's due to exceptional weather and rural you don't have the infrastructure.Hope you are settling into it now. You have all day to get some back up water for the toilet if you need it during the night and can't go tieh the 'if it's yellow let it mellow, if it's brown wash it down' which I think is an Aussie phrase because they are all about water conservation.Hospital visiting I'm thinking is only day or early evening? It would have been nice if the owner had given a couple of bottles of wine in compensation. Perhaps you were so angry she didn't feel inclined.I had a situation in Cornwall where during a crisis there was only hot water for an hour in the evening. People rushed back for 6pm and left the rest of us with cold.Ditto I found the heating doesn't come on in my Italian hotel again because of conservation and a daily problem with other things but both were part of the holiday experience and we all chuckled once we came to terms with 'that's the way it is'.
I can rise and shine - just not at the same time!

Indeed. There were terrible fires in Greece a few years back with the tragic loss of over 100 souls - in Mati, a place where we had stayed many years ago.0

Alongside this, the air con switches off after every 1.5 hours as an "energy saving feature" meaning you have to get up 3 times through the night to reset it.
And no parking for half a mile as the streets are full of visitors to the local hospital.
And a shared pool which the local community clearly doesn't want to share with strangers.
Not to mention the constant power cuts if the iron or the hair dryer or the oven is used at the same time as the air con.
Holiday from hell is the only way I can describe the situation.
It is more disturbing to hear that you are re-setting the air conditioning to make it run throughout the night. This is totally unnecessary and a terrible waste of scarce electricity (I returned from Southern Spain earlier today and neither or nor anyone I knew there was running air conditioning at night: a fan was entirely adequate once the room had been cooled down.) If you are behaving in such an anti-social manner and causing problems for local people with their electricity supply, I am not surprised that they don't want to share the pool with you. Equally, your apparent desire to use hospital parking is unlikely to impress many people.0 -
OP I understand it’s an inconvenience but I have heard much worse in hotels in previous years for example in Cyprus where showers were banned even during the day ( my friend had her wedding out there during that time so that was a major inconvenience for her and her guests but they still managed to make the best of it and enjoy the celebrations )
Hotter summers & water shortages are something we have to adapt to even in U.K.
You have been given some very practical solutions on this forum. It’s not that you can’t use the toilet, you just need alternative methods for flushing. Did the owner provide buckets ? If not then it’s perfect reasonable that you request that she do . That will resolve the problem with flushing the toilets.
Showers - all take your showers before 11pm . That will resolve the problem with the shower arrangements.
A/C you could request that the owner provide a fan as an alternative?
With regard to the pool, a/c and parking issues that you mention - did you read reviews from previous guests prior to booking ? Did any of the previous guests mentioned these as issues in their reviews ?0
