Best laptop for home use?

Hi all

I have no experience of laptops at all, I currently use a home PC. However, I'm looking to get a laptop for my birthday but have no clue what to look for:confused:

I'm keeping my PC and will only really use the laptop for surfing the web, emailing, spreadsheets etc.

I would like something fairly neat & compact & preferably a good brand (but at a good price;) )

Any ideas????

Also, I've curently got broadband , how do I go about using that with the laptop or do i need to change the type of broadband I have? Sorry if I sound thick....not very good at techie stuff!!!:o :rotfl:

For the internet I assume, maybe incorrectly, that you will be wanting to go wireless so make sure the laptop can do that. Then you will need a router of some sort.

There are always deals on DELL, do a search here and you will find loads of info, but I wouldn't say they are neat and compact. You can pay a lot of money for a very small light one. Go to some shops and see what they look like and give yourself some idea of what you might be able to afford

Yes I would like to go wireless - thanks for the advice. I will be going to have a look round.....don't really want to spend loads, so may need to compromise a little on the size - doesn't matter too much!

Again...sounding thick.....can I get a router to use with my current broadband connection?
