Cant get my computer to boot up, keep getting black screen with a few options, safe mode, start windows normally, or start with last known settings that worked.
It is hit and miss as to if you can get it too work from any of the options, sometimes 6 or 7 re oots to get it going, tried a couple of virus checkers but nothing is shown!!!!
Been doing this for as far back as i can remember, any advice would be very helpful and appreciated

could be a hardware problem, anything new in it? you usually get this screen if it is not shut down correctly or after a blue screen of death, which operating system is it?
Is it a cheap computer? I built a computer a few months back with a cheap ecs motherboard, complete nightmare crashes non-stop.
if your running vista bung in your disk and do a memory check, could be a dodgy module.....there are so many things that could be causing it, if all fails you can borrow my sledge hammer. There are 10 types of people in the world; those who understand binary and those who don't...0 -
try a restore point. try the oldest one not the last known one.
if that fails then a complete reinstall of the OS is best/quickest.
(back up your data first if required).Get some gorm.0 -
I am using a dell computer which is now 2 years old, using windows xp.
Not sure when this problem started, it seems to have been doing it for about a year. I can't think back to see if it started when something was added to my computer.
Don't have a recovery disk or anything think only option might be a system restore???
Thanks for advice0
