Problem accessing Cash In ISA

Hi Guys,

Ive just had an excruciating fews hours on the phone with Halifax Scottish Widows about an ISA I have with them.

I require access asap to the money in my ISA. Halifax say they will not transfer it until they have seen my passport or Phot ID Driving license.

My Passport is out of date and I do not have a photo ID Driving license.

They suggestedI get a letter of introduction from my GP. (Ive never heard of that), and The GP surgery have refused to help me with that.

So the current situation is I have no money in my current account for bills such as rent, council tax etc.

Can anyone suggest any way I can get access to my ISA without having to wait for a new driving license or passport please  ?

You might ask them if verification by the Post Office of the documents you do have (bank statements, utility bills) would be acceptable - see In Branch Verification Service | Post Office . Or ask if verification by another "professional", eg a teacher, who has known you for some time, would work - this expands the pool of acquaintances who might be OK (if someone at your bank with "manager" in their title knows you, that might be good, because they're financial).

One more idea - is the rent paid to a private individual, or to an organisation? If the latter, they may count as an acceptable verifier (and have a reason to bother to work with you about it). I'd guess your council tax is paid more "anonymously", and so the chances of the council counting as verification are less.

Not had this happen to me before, My Halifax isa matured last November.
I called and asked for it to be moved into my Halifax account.
They warned me I would loose the tax wrapper, I said ok.
Was done the next day. If I were you I would visit a branch with id and see how you get on.
I would give them a letter stating you are suffering financial hardship, they are making it worse and causing you to incur significant extra costs, that you intend to pursue them. For said costs as they will not provide you with your money. Via financial ombudsman service after your complaint.
    Then via the court system.

I’ve become very belligerent in the last few years.
Mainly because of id requests, nay demands during covid.
From banks, Doctors, Police ( I think your id is like crack to them).
I will not provide id, it’s that simple.
One bank who I’ve been with for 30 years wanted me to travel a 60 mile round trip with id to open a savings account. Bye Bye and thanks for my £200 switching bonus.
