Received bank transfer for a item sold - Bank now frozen.

Hi all,
Looking for some advice here.
I listed a item on Facebook market place (approx £300 value) and stated collection only due to the hassle of posting etc.
A person convinced me that they are happy to pay bank transfer if I can post via Royal Mail, I had no issues with this.
- Buyer sends me a bank transfer of £310.00 at aprox 08:45am.
- Funds are cleared and showing on my bank statement.
Buyer has contacted his bank at aprox 17:20 stating that he has not received the item / been scammed.
I receive a email at 18:30 from Nationwide saying that they have concerns over a payment received and need evidence / proof the funds are mine. Until I can provide this evidence my account is fully blocked.
I have screens hotted all of the conversations and provided the bank with the evidence... I ring the bank this morning who told me this can take a long time to resolve.
Any suggestions......... this seems absolutely crazy to me.

Did you actually post the item? If so, did you send it tracked?0

Hope you have proof of delivery. That's exactly what I thought. What I can't understand is how his bank listened to him on when the funds and claim was the SAME day!0 -
They are, rightly or wrongly, obliged to listen to every complaint.TwentyStar said:born_again said:User claiming item not received & gone to their bank saying fraudulent transaction.

I agree it is far from ideal, but there is no way around the process. Also be prepared for it to last longer than 14 days, it can take longer. It could also be sorted in a matter of days.TwentyStar said:MattMattMattUK said:

If it is the bank you have your wages paid into and you need access to funds (eg. you might just use an alternative card until it is resolved) then it would be advisable to set up another bank account that your wages could be paid into at the end of the month. All your Direct Debits and Standing Orders will come out as normal, so the easiest thing is if you have a credit card just use that in the interim.0 -

Some people swear by emailing the CEO, personally I think it does nothing, at least in an organisation the size of a bank.TwentyStar said:MattMattMattUK said:

They have to follow a procedure, it is fairly prescribed and so it generally does get completed within their stated timeframe, but sometimes delays do happen.0 -
I agree with this. I once had a problem where a company banked a cheque that I paid to someone working out of their offices into the company account instead of passing it to the individual. My own bank dealt with the issue through the fraud department. The office I paid the cheque to mentioned this to me as if I had played a part in it. There was clearly just an error made, but the only way the bank could resolve it was through their usual process.MattMattMattUK said:
