Paint - is there a significant difference between the major brands?

We have someone in the family who is a painter & decorator for the past 25 years. I always used to buy my paint in B&Q but he advised me to use Dulux Trade. It's a bit more expensive but you can often get away with applying just one coat. The difference is just remarkable and I'd never go back to buying anything else.0

Another vote here for Valspar. We found it vastly superior to Dulux and Crown.ChilliBob said:Oh sorry, to add, Valspar, the v700 I think it is, not bad either - the whole house was done in it before we moved and it stood up to some abuse with people moving out, us moving in etc. I used it in one room but felt it was a bit plasticy, but still not bad tbfAs for Farrow & Ball, maybe they’ve improved if but it needed three coats of Elephant Breath and even then it looked poor.My message to that greedy wunch of bankers:
Debts another fine mess you got us into!
If you see somone who hasn't got a smile, give them one of yours.0
