Car Insurance premium tripled after no fault
Hi all, I wanted to share an experience and see if this is normal or unfair.
A few months ago someone crashed into my parked car, I was able to get their details and the claim was registered as their fault and my car was repaired. Upon renewing my insurance, my premium had gone up almost 3x. On comparison websites I struggled to get it anywhere near what it was, and eventually settled at a roughly 60% increase on last year.
I just wanted to see if this is typical, or if I should have done something differently.
Thoughts greatly appreciated,
George

Just look at the other threads on this forum... people are seeing 3x increases in premiums without any claims.
This year and next are anticipated to see substantial increases in premiums for almost everyone.1 -
Yes it is normal. Is it fair? Hard to say.
Insurers believe that drivers who make non-fault claims are statistically more likely to make future claims, which makes them riskier to insure, therefore your premium will increase.
