I've been asked for Customer ID in Virgin Money but this is an old system they don't use. MSE needs this to link to my Virgin account. What do I do?

What are you trying to do? Are you sure you are dealing with the proper MSE, and not one of the fraudsters which pose as MSE?

Hi @ColinLaughton - I'm guessing you're trying to set up the MSE app - is that correct?
For everyone else's benefit, the MSE app has an optional feature that uses Open Banking to give personalised insights about potential MoneySaving actions you could takeMyMSE is an experimental, early-stage feature exclusively developed for the MSE App. It aims to use tech to learn about your spending and interests so we can give you personalised tips and help you cut your bills.

It's a bit light on detail there, any further details on what advantages MSE members/MSE gain from this access to someone's bank account.0

Colin, I have the same problem with setting up Virgin Money as a TPP on many systems not just MyMSE Beta, as you are trying to do. Our accounts used to be Yorkshire Bank or Clydesdale Bank. They won't work. See below from VM:
Only choose Savings or Current Account if your sort code starts with 08. If you have a 10 digit customer number, you are in the wrong place. Go back and choose Yorkshire or Clydesdale Bank on the TPPs app.

When our CEO said we were going to open banking, they were asked why.
Simple answer "So we can sell customer products & get a kick back for that"Life in the slow lane0 -
Hi @ColinLaughton - I've checked with the people who work on our app, and it seems this is an issue with how Virgin Money have got their Open Banking integration set up, and would need a change on VM's end to resolve it.

FWIW this is a known issue from other OB TPPs. VM does not appear interested in providing a working OB facility to its customers.
