BA Executive telephone enquiries line - 'misinformation' galore!

I wonder if anyone else has suffered from a BA foreign call centre not giving the correct information? I called to check whether my Silver status would be renewed before booking a flight (at a less convenient airport and potentially taking more luggage) and was told it would. I thus booked and then, when I was subsequently downgraded to Bronze status - for the usual 'not enough points' reasons - I queried this. It went up the chain, apparently, and they declined to keep me at Silver (fair enough) but also declined to honour that conversation. I would not have booked had I known - the luggage was the deal breaker. I would advise others to be very careful about relying on information from the telephone enquiry lines. Interestingly, as a leisure traveler, it appears hard to maintain Silver status - we have flown 5 times in the past year with BA but not in the 'points earning' seats. At least we can book at the most convenient airport and cheapest airline now...Take a bow BA: you've lost a regular customer of 20 years!

    Would the tier renewal date not be known?  My account is quite clear on when my current tier level ends.

    when you logged into your BA account online did it not show what points you would still need to retain silver? 
    It should have shows "to retain silver membership"
    the number of Tier Points and eligible flights required and how many you have achieved to date
    From memory I think your silver card expires the month after the status change
  • Thanks for the feedback. I did log in but I was not sure that all of my flights had been added - there appeared to be a glitch on the website. That was why I called them. I was also aware that the collection date and the membership dates are different so I wanted to be clear about this. In reality, the agent should have been able to see and understand all of this and advise me - which I thought they had, hence I booked another flight...
