Halifax Clarity card cash withdrawl

MSE reporting sligthly confusing info on this.
MSE is stating that if the Halifax Clarity card is used for a cash withdrawal and the balance is cleared you are still charged the interest. "19.94% - 27.94% (even if repaid in
full)"
I have confirmed with halifax you are only charged interest per day until balance is cleared.
"19.94% - 27.94% (until repaid in
full)" would be clearer.

You have to remember that if you already have a balance on the card from last statement. You can not pay a cash withdrawal off straight away.
You have to wait till you get a statement with it on, or any payment before will go to last statement balance.
Catches many people out does that.
So if you take cash day after statement you can have approx 30 days interest to pay.Life in the slow lane1 -
You've already asked about this in a separate thread: https://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/discussion/comment/80183107#Comment_80183107
Like I said there, it's much better to withdraw cash on a debit card which doesn't charge fees such as Chase, Starling, Kroo, Virgin, or First Direct.0 -

The point is that the specific exemption of "no interest if paid in full" doesn't apply to cash. It's obviously not trying to say you're charged interest after the balance is repaid!

Or pay the statement balance off at the same time to stop interest. Which is why it might be better not to use a DD if you're going to use the card for cash, as it just complicates things.born_again said:You have to remember that if you already have a balance on the card from last statement. The clarity card used to be the best but changed around 2017 2018.
Previously the interest rates were lower .
You could pre load it to withdraw while away and/or pay off all transactions as you spent incurring pence interest over months away using it.
I did this every year over months away from 2009 to 2017
Now its not as good and charges interest on cash withdrawals until the direct debit pays out .
If you stop the direct debit this helps as a work around but overall the cards a pain now and far better to get another card like barclaycard reward or a santander card for spain and use the clarity as a backup cards backup0
