Attendance Allowance-advice please

Hi there,
My Dad applied for attendance allowance in September 2022 due to severe anaemia and blood cancer.
He was turned down in January 2023 so we disputed it and they changed their minds and decided he should get the higher rate.
On 2 occasions having spoken to the AA helpline, I was told the claim would be backdated to mid December ( when his condition deteriorated).
This week my Dad has received a payment of £400 from June.
He was expecting £3000!
Obviously, he’s totally gutted.
Before I ring them up tomorrow, can anyone explain whether this is right and maybe we were fed false information from the AA helpline?
Many thanks
Woody

He needs to have met the criteria for AA for 6 months, so maybe if his condition deteriorated in mid December, they are counting the six months from then?

How much did he get? Was it £407? That is 4 weeks AA at the higher rate. is it possible that any arrears could be paid separately. He should get a letter which will confirm the start date of his AA. The alternative is to phone AA and ask them the date from which AA has been paid.

The arrears will be paid separately and should be backdated to the date your date applied for AA.
Alice Holt Forest situated some 4 miles south of Farnham forms the most northerly gateway to the South Downs National Park.

Many year ago, my friend claimed for Pip it took 11.5 months.
She got say £550 first and a letter saying the rest would be paid in a week or so £7500.
After 2 weeks and no money we called, the issue was as the back pay was over 3k I think it was
A separate department has to ok the payment.
Give it a week or two.
