To clear my Mum's 2 bedroom semi, I used the council at first (£46 for 6 items over two visits).
Then enquired with a few charity shops to see if they would help, but found them too picky, especially BHF.

In the end I went with a clearance firm. Pricing wasn't very clear on their website, but after sending them photographs of the items I wanted to get shut of, I decided using them would be be best course of action.

They came and emptied the house in less than an hour. Total price was £240 for 'a large load'.

The other Executor offered to hire a skip for me, but it would have still meant dragging heavy stuff down the stairs on my own and I'm not sure how long I would have needed that skip or whether it would end up being more expensive.
