Travel insurance

I have just recently had to come back early from a two week holiday with my husband. The first few nights was booked for a hotel in Crete which was used. I should then have moved on to a 7 night cruise and then back to the hotel, but due to an injury/accident alighting the plane upon arrival, I sustained a back issue which got worse resulting in requiring medical attention from a local doctor. He said that I should not travel on the cruise and repatriate to get further investigations. I have all the insurance documents completed but it is appearing doubtful I could get a breakdown of the varying sections of the package to assist with the claim, ie cruise cost, transfers, hotel fees etc. it is most likely that the cruise section would have been the most expensive, can anyone suggest how I could possibly get a retrospective cost?

A lot will depend on the T&C's of your insurance.

Have you spoken with them and if so, what have they advised?

I would have thought the package travel firm provider could advise on a specific breakdown of individual elements ?

Thank you guys. I am hopeful after perseverance that I can finally get the necessary details to make an accurate claim. There is something wrong though I feel about the whole process with package holidays when you do not get a breakdown of cost. Something should change there. Once again thanks

In practice you only need a breakdown in costs in a situation where you wish to seek a refund or travel insurance compensation of a specific element in respect of a package holiday.

If you are on a DIY deal you already have that information upfront.
