Which Henry vacuum?

Hi there.

My wife  has asked me to get a Henry vacuum cleaner and, having done a bit of research, I now realise that there are more than a few.

Is the allergy version (blue), worth the extra cost?

Surely the answer depends on wether you have any allergies ?

I've always bought the standard Henry vac.....red, 2 speed, long lead, long hose etc.....I think it's code is HVR200A. It retails at around £100 but I always try to pick them up used.....have to be careful they havent been used commercially. We have two.....one upstairs and one down stairs and put one in each of our rental properties. Highly recommended.
  • I don't think you've taken inflation into account. At least £130 now. Still worth every penny though.

The older models are superior to the new models due to EU regulations reducing the wattage from 1200 to 620 watts

Another Henry, older red version fan here.

I have asthma. I was not aware Henry did one for allergies. I have found it superb and never had an issue with it triggering asthma.

About 25 years ago, I bought a Dyson, which was marketed for asthmatics and recommended by an asthma charity. I wheezed every time I used it. It was very heavy and expensive, plus parts kept falling off. I took it to the local tip!

Henry parts/accessories are cheap enough to replace too.

Even the basic Henry has two stages of filtering - the bag itself, then a filter between the bag and the motor.  I have no problem with mine blowing out dust.
The standard Henry comes with their basic head for floors.  The Aero Brush is much better on carpets.  Some Henrys come with it as standard, or you can buy that brush on its own.
    If it sticks, force it.
If it breaks, well it wasn't working right anyway.
  • Yes, that's a good point. The aero brush is well worth getting. We got a new aftermarket aero brush on Ebay. It's great for picking up hairs on carpets.
