Like I said above if they are sending the adapter that you linked to then that is for connecting a DECT base station or analog phone to, it's not for connecting another router.
Of course they might be sending you something different, somehow though I doubt it.

I think you're right about that adaptor, I managed to score one of those on DV conversion.

You might also be able to get a freebie wireless Advanced Digital Home Phone, if you plead a lack of useable kit - it's a chunky beast but the sound quality's good. Only works with DV on SH2, not DECT kit.

I also recently upgraded (well BT/Openreach did) from old copper cable to Full Fibre 500 (FTTP) and was provided with a new SH2, which was set up by myself and the Openreach engineer.  We will gloss over the fact that it took over four hours for him to not be able to register the new Router on the BT system and even when that was done, the phone number was incorrect and it took two more days for that to be sorted.  When it was all fully working, I plugged in the adaptor (as my phone DECT base was across my hall from the Router) and that now works well.

My issue is that the SH2 does not allow split/separate bands for the 2.4/5 GHz and that is affecting my Smart Plugs.  They will only work with 2.4 GHz and the workaround is to turn off the 5 GHz whilst I pair and synch them, then turn back on the 5 GHz.  This is fine until the WiFi decides to disconnect (for whatever mysterious reason) and then I have to go through the rigmarole of turning off the 5 GHz whilst I pair and synch them, then turning it back on.  My proposed solution, if I cannot get a (different) Smart Plug manufacturer to guarantee their 2.4 GHz only plugs will work with dual band, is to do exactly what has been reported here and chain a second router with splittable bands.

Can you not simply leave the 5 GHZ turned off at the SH2 and just use it as a 2.4 GHZ router?
Or do you have devices that will only connect to 5 GHZ.
If you start using two routers each putting out it's own wifi network SSID then you will need to restrict the IP ranges each one can use/issue to devices.

I could but what then is the point of having 5 GHz?  I know it is faster but will not do the distance and I have devices that are using the 5 GHz but will (and did before the upgrade) use the 2.4 GHz band.
From what I have read, you turn off the WiFi on the SH2 and just use that with split bands on the second router.
So as not to derail this thread (any more) I started a new one specifically for the Smart Plug Issue here: -

Yes that would work, as this thread shows- always rembering that putting the second router in AP mode usually reduces it's functionality.
But unless you already have a router that can split the frequencies, and absolutely can't do without the 5Ghz, then why buy something that you don't realy need?
