Ebay: Heavy dresser collection only

I sold a heavy dresser on Ebay- collection only, but the buyer seems to be completely dippy, she thinks that she and her 17 year old son can lift it out. I think she thought I was going to help - (I'm a 69 year old female)
I'm now worried that she will damage my house trying to get it through the door. She turned up in a small car the first time, thinking she could get it in that, but decided to take away a few drawers. I gave full dimensions when listing. I'm tempted to cancel, but she has the drawers.

Suggest to her that she hires a man with a van, or else brings your drawers back for a full refund.

Was this a cash on collection, and if not when you allowed her to take the drawers did you use the QR code to mark it as collected?

    Hi,
Thanks for your comment, it was buy it now or bidding, and she bought it now, and paid for it immediately. I didn't use the QR code, no.

That's a shame it means she has the upper hand as she has the drawers. If you had used the QR code for collection then you would have the control as if she wanted a refund she would need to bring the drawers back, now, if she plays dirty, she can get a refund and leave you without the drawers.

At least its a 17 year old son... a person collecting something similar from us from a 2nd floor (industrial 2nd floor) unit turned up with her circa 13 year old daughter to try to do the same. Not only was she tiny but clearly had no interest in helping and would only carry 1 draw down the stairs at a time etc.

Another time we had a gym style treadmill, on the plus side the chap turned up with 3 big mates but thought he could get it into the back of some BMW SUV Coupe thing... wasn't close to happening.

Can you move the thing so its right by the front door and therefore reduce the risk of damage to your property? If they damage the thing itself then that's their problem.

I might try to do that, I think she thought I would be the one to do the heavy lifting.  If she turns up on a moped with a bit of string I won't be surprised.  :s

I know I've mentioned it before but on facebook I once had someone turn up with a baby in a pram expecting to be able to put 2 solid wood bedside cabinets somehow on top of the baby.

Well at least they brought someone to help! :)

OP, I think you're potentially in a weak position as they have your drawers now but could cancel the sale.

In theory i think if they damaged your house moving it you might have legal recourse but not easy to get it. On the other hand, anyone collecting would be in the same positon

If they seem reasonable I'd probably contact them and say if they return the drawers you're happy to cancel the sale and refund their money and give them an out.
