We will arrive at our island at 5 tomorrow evening so will be shattered by then but will have a bite to eat and an early night and be up and raring to go tomorrow morning.

Gosh; that's an early start Ruby! Hope the holiday goes well.
I've been up a little while and had my first cup of tea. DH is still fast asleep but he'll have to wake up soon as we have a 2hour drive to go and see a friend today. I have booked us a nice place for lunch though.
The heavens opened and we got soaked going back to the car yesterday about 4pm so dried off back home by watching the recorded Men's tennis final. Great match and a worthy winner. I also got offered rhubarb from somebody's garden so that can go in the freezer until I get around to making a lovely crumble.
Hope everyone's day goes well.

Morning folks and thanks RUBY, who will be well on her way now. I hope the horrendous temperatures drop a bit for you. I woke up to sunshine for a change and just a bit of light rain forecast for mid morning. We are still not back to sitting out in the garden reading weather though.
Now remind me what month we are in!! I have had a letter from Boots inviting me to make an appointment for my winter flu jab!! Maybe this miserable weather has fooled them and they think we are in autumn already!
The only plan for today is meeting my DF for a late lunch at the carvery. It goes without saying we will be vacating to the little bar afterwards, clutching a bottle of wine, for a long chat and putting the world to rights.
A few jobs might get done this morning as yesterday was spent mostly watching tennis. It was exhausting watching the men's final, so nail biting, but in the end a worthy winner. So pleased for him.
Have a good day folks if you can and ((HUGS)) for the poorlies and getting better. Take care all be safe xx

Morning folks. There's a very watery sky outside and light drizzle falling.Yesterday was dull in every way. I didn't watch the tennis but a couple of old Agatha Christie films, then the Kenneth Branagh version of the Orient Express murder and finally fast-forwarded through Hitman Bodyguard. See, dull!
Today is banking day then some serious thinking about my car. Not looking forward to either so shall have another snuggle down.TA - have a lovely time with your DF.Happy Monday to all.10 -
Morning everyone and thank you for starting us off RR - hope you have a great holiday.
Nothing much going on at Chez Iris today.
Hope you all have a good Monday.9 -
Morning all. Windows will start being fitted todat. I've actually remembered to take before pictures this time. Chimney sweep is also coming so that's another job done. Other than that, I'll be cooking stuff, bacon sarnies for them, using up some fish in a small pie of sorts as well as the five green beans and three yellow ones I picked yesterday, A glut I definitely don't have at the moment. I rescued the bottom half of a large cat poo covered box this moring, it will be used for compost and potting on to contain it rather than me splashing it about the place. Thats it for Chez Taff this morningRuby, have a fantastic time! Gers, you enjoy the rest after your travels! TA, hope you have some acceptable weather today
Scarlet, hope all is well. NRA, it's very stressful, selling a house so take it eas. Izzy, you too, hope the dog countdown goes quickly! Have fun, take care all....

Morning all, just had a horrendous rainstorm, seems to have calmed down a bit now.RR have a brilliant hol
( envious moi ?

Busy day yesterday with the 2 DGC tournaments, the rain mainly held off but really windy. Caught some of the mens tennis once we got home, so tea was a bit delayed. ( Pork tenderloin in honey & garlic sauce- I cut it up so it cooked quicker, mixed veg & potatoes. Choc fudge cake for the men and I made a low carb creme brulee for me.We binge watched the Lincoln lawyer on net flix, DH enjoyed reading the book & we are enjoying watching it.Today is DS2s birthday but he's at work with DH- the days of horrendous birthday hangovers seem to be a thing of the past,I'll see him later when we drop DGS off from school. That reminds me, I must put my walking boots on as no doubt the path up to school will be flooded at the bottom!
I was toying with the idea of a swim but I think I'll stay in until later, and carrying on with my loft declutter. Not caught up with the thread yet but hope everyone is ok x:heartsmil 'A woman is like a teabag: You never know her strength until you drop her in hot water'. (Eleanor Roosevelt)8 -
Morning all reasonable weekend DD1's party went well and yesterday was just catching up with bits indoors and a freezer inventory why i bother i dont know we seem to have a lot of joints so will start ploughing through them but there is about half a freezer empty now we have resorted it . Awaiting the virgin water machine man to take it away i have had enough now as we have ordered a spare part 3 times and nothing its also leaking at the bottom despite being repaired we have purchased a machine from amazon to do the same job and will save me the £20 a month rental will have paid for itself in 6 months.
Ruby have a wonderful holiday

NRA I hope things speed up for you on the house sale
Gers Boo to the car problems

Morning chums and I hope RR has a great holiday and not too hot.
I have to have some bloods done today and a few other test for my hospital stay (fingers crossed ) two weeks tomorrow. Just to be rid of 'Dora the Drain' will be well worth the stayits been in for 28 weeks now and I think thats more than long enough as it restricts me from doing such a lot at the moment .
I've plotted out that on the way to see the nurse I pass a CS so I will drop half a dozen read books off in there on the way. I am slowly decluttering my bookshelves and being ruthless and as I can't carry a lot. I think 6 at a time when I walk across to the precinct will be my daily exercise for a bit.
I do have a lot of them to go.I got my grandson to take lots of encyclopaedias that were from a children's set to go on his classes book shelves, as the local council in his area of north London say they can't afford the Year Five to have bookshelves filled in the classrooms !!!
Ben , my grandson teaches there and to him a child without the opportunity to have a book to read or look at is appalling. His head master is so pleased with his progress with the year fives (they have just been 'ofsteded' and got excellent reports ) he's asked Ben to become Head of Year in September
He really is a dedicated teacher, and the kids all seem to think he's GodHe puts his hand in his pocket if there is extra stuff needed for the kids in class as he says the council don't seem to bother with inner city schools and how can the kids get on when the get older, if they haven't got something that interests them in primary.
He wants to ensure every child that goes into their last year can read and write as well as they can, as how can they study for exams in senior school if they can't read the text books. He's a smashing lad and I'm so pleased he found his vocation in life. He will be back down here for a few weeks when his school break up this week.
He will be able to dig his first crop of spuds up thats been growing in my garden as he planted them at Easter, and he's never grown anything in his life, but older and taller, and he's so pleased that they have all grown up beautifully in the little plot I let him have for himself at the bottom of the garden
The red onion sets he planted have done very well as well.
He bought his class pots and compost and seed to grow things themselves and as i've taken photos of the spuds growing he's been showing the children in his class its possible to grow things to eat.Not just buying from a shop but you can grow anything ,even with just a pot and some compost and a few seeds and the children have grown all sorts of stuff . I think coming from a big family helped him as he is the eldest of four brothers and a sister so he's always got on pretty well with children. An all round good egg is our Ben
Right well enough chat time for another cuppa and a wander down the garden to see what else has grown up in my absence , my neighbour kindly watered it for me while I was away bless her, she too is a good lass .
Have a good day chums, its still windy here in Kent but dry and a little bit of sun at least

Morning everyone
Yesterday we had gusty winds all day - which was annoying as we also had sunshine. Not as bad this morning but showers forecast for all week. Never mind, it's only a week and a bit till I go to Croatia and it's lovely there.
Last week at work this week - looking forward to my 6 weeks off and spending lots of time with little one before she starts school in September. I don't know where that times gone!
I'm waffling so I'll get on with my jobs as I need to go down to work a little earlier today. Hope everyone has a good day x
Jackie your grandson sounds like a great teacher - I totally agree that children need to have access to books to learn. At times at nursery, I've been saddened when a 3 or 4 year old says they have no books at home. x10
