I've noticed this "new" ingredient in other food too.  I'm assuming it takes the place of things known to be allergy triggers (gluten etc)
Another possibility?   Bamboo not as expensive as wheat these days.

In consumer quantities it is at least 10 times the price of wheat flour.

  • My husband has non coeliac gluten syndrome. He's okay with rye but has big problems with wheat. Wheat is probably too expensive to be made into rusk now, anyway. I buy our gluten free sausages from a farm in Lincolnshire.
