Have had the standard letter that is going around from Bank of Ireland saying that they want to liquidate Bristol & West. I have 250 shares, not worth a great deal @1.17p. If I sit of them and the bank
liquidates could I loose them? Or could the go up in value? What are others doing?

    Hi,
    similar post HERE.
Hardly likely to go up in value, for 250 shares even a 1p rise is only £2.50.
You wont lose out, accept now you know what you're getting, hold on could be more or less, but for 250 shares maybe a £10 either way.
Edit: Might be better on Savings and Investment forum.
    Y'all take care now.

*lose. It's not a liquidation, it's an offer to buy these preference shares from you for a set price. You could keep them if you like and keep banking the dividend cheques but they're preference shares so there's always a limit to how much they can increase in value. Having said this, when interest rates were exceptionally low in 2021 they reached 155p but the likelihood we will see those levels any time soon are remote.

It looks like that to date 15.9% of the outstanding shares have been tendered.

Not to be morbid but another way to think about it might be whether or not it's worth simplifying your affairs for your executors. If you tender them it'll also save on dealing costs rather than if you decide to sell them in the future.

I sold mine a few years back, as it's too small an amount to be concerned about. Get rid of yours and spend it on something nice, you won't miss them.
