Question about Meter Readings (Octopus)
Just received a bill from Octopus. Checked my meter (not IHD as I don't use it). I don't understand how their reading dated yesterday is 14 units higher than my meter reading now. I'm a low user and only use 3 or 4 units a day.
The meter is a Secure Smets1 on which I was told to press 9 to get a reading.
As an aside, how come they bill for the digit after the decimal point when they read the meter but we only have to give digits before the decimal point?

I may have inadvertently confused the issue. Although I'm with Octopus, they did not install the meter. Pressed 9 this morning. After it finished going through all the information, I pressed 6 out of interest. On 6, it was 8 units less than on 9, so still don't see how they get a reading of 14 units higher. It's not a complaint, just wondering how it happens?0

Just pressed 6 four times. Same reading as pressing 6 once.
The people who were here before me and had the meter installed were not on E7.0 -
My SMETS 1 meter has two readings also that confused me when I left BG for Outfox and I screwed up my first bill by giving the total reading instead of the reading that said ACT 2.
It took nearly 18 months for the meter to stop reading the second reading that was for the free electric period so I had too put in the two readings so that the bill could be accurate.
I would email and ask them which reading should be used stating the readings from the time you send the email and they should either add an extra box so you can submit the two readings or just state that they need the total reading from the meter if you're not on E7 or E10 for electric.Someone please tell me what money is0 -

It doesn’t have to be E7 as @wild666 has indicated.
If the IHD reading is higher than the reading R1 on the meter it means that the R2 register has been used in the past. The IHD reading is the SUM of all the indexes that have been used since the meter was installed.

As I said in the first post, I don't use the IHD, never have.0
