Why not view the vehicle in person and pay by bank transfer on collection?0

Factory or non stock orders, so catch 22. Dealer wants initial deposit then cleared funds two days before handover. It's common practice and I've done it before, however having the s75 <30k as last resort0

Why are you at a dealer in the first place.
All the broker sites say pay deposit and pay the balance when you get the car delivered or when you collect it.
I just helped a friend order a Toyota Corolla estate, saved over 6k compared to the dealer.
I think they wanted £500 deposit, not 100% sure.

I purchased a new car a while back, dealer was happy to accept 3K deposit via any form so I used a credit card with a little kick back to me.
Then went and checked car on delivery day and then we did a big electronic transfer, can remember exactly the type buy think I paid a charge to my bank, it wasn't too much and certainly reduced the risk of a bog loss on my behalf.
In fact I've done the above twice now thinking, both dealers thought I was bonkers and I was fine with their views.0 -

Never had a problem with that.
Yes you have a deposit to pay on order, but never had a pay a balance before collecting on any new car.Life in the slow lane0 -

The 3 quotes I've had all have the same terms regarding payment.
£1000 deposit to secure the vehicle
3-4 week wait for delivery to broker from manufacturer. Once the broker has it then they request the balance from me with delivery to me 2 days later.
They will not do it any other way.
My other option would be buy on finance then pay off immediately, the savings out weigh the interest charges
