I have this motherboard in my desk top, there is an Intel i5 as well (not sure of serial code).
I am giving up this machine and have decided to give it to my grandson but I want to put a couple of new drives into it.
Could someone please tell me what I can put in this for him, I think there is a hdd and a ssd in it already but I don't know if there are better options available now that can be put into it. I will be removing the two currently in the computer.
He is 8 1/2, I would like him to be able to use it for his school work etc over the next few years

Thanks for any replies

I'd probably just go for a 1TB sata 2.5 drive from a known brand and install windows 10  from a bootable USB (you can set these up via the Microsoft site).

    https://www.ebuyer.com/store/Storage/cat/Hard-Drive---SSD/subcat/2.5"-SSD?a00413=1TB|2TB&sort=price+ascending

The motherboard has 4 internal sata ports, 2 of which are the 6.0Gb/s standard - these will be the ones to plug modern drives into. They should be marked on the motherboard, if not the manual I just downloaded details them.

Whilst you're in there you might want to upgrade the memory and graphics card (your son will not doubt want to play games) and replace the thermal paste and give it a clean out too

You can happily get a few more years out of this board but bear in mind windows 11 is not supported.

I would put something good quality with DRAM in as the Boot drive, say https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B08PC5DKZQ for £30 and perhaps an HDD in for saving important data.
Why? Because when an SSD goes it goes. With an HDD you often have warning signs and an opportunity to retrieve the data.
You'll still be able to install Windows 11, it's that Microsoft doesn't want to be responsible for supporting millions of older devices. They've even documented how to bypass the requirements if you wish to do so.
