    Its up to them what incomes they want to consider applicable or not when deciding if to lend to someone or not. Generally they accept anything that is guaranteed to continue and wont accept something thats temporary or highly volatile 

    These are affordability checks though not a credit check which looks at your history. Given the numbers trying to get out of repaying their debts on the grounds that the lender shouldnt have offered credit because it was unafforable we can easily predict the direction of travel for affordability checks in the future... they're already starting to impact non-traditional lending like paying for your insurance in monthly installments.
