You can go anytime you like, don't need agents or landlord's permission.
But may remain liable for rent.
Negotiate: calm and polite. Suggest direct with landlord.1 -
Hi,
The tenant has already negotiated and reached an agreement for early surrender which they are entitled to rely on. They don't need to negotiate again unless they really want to - in this case they don't.theartfullodger said:You can go anytime you like, don't need agents or landlord's permission.

My response to the agent would be along the lines of "You have agreed an early termination of the tenancy, with the tenancy ending on 31st July and me not paying rent for August. This was queried with you at the time and you confirmed that position. It is too late to change your mind now. Sorry."
The OP may need to argue about the return of the deposit but I expect the email trail they have will prove sufficient evidence to convince the deposit scheme that they haven't missed a payment.

I would forget the early termination, etc, the bit that's important is you have it in writing, from the estate agent that your tenancy will end on 31st July and that you'd already paid your last months rent.
I would go back to the agents and say something along the lines of this:
As per your email dated xxxx, you informed us that our tenancy was to end on 31st July 2023, which we queried, and you confirmed was correct at the time. As a result, we have now made arrangements to be out of the property by 31st July 2023 in line with the date given by yourselves and incurred costs in doing so, and as such we do not accept that we are now liable for the rent up to 31st August 2023.1 -
Different words, same thing.. the tenancy ending on 31st July IS an early termination. The agent confirmed / agreed it.gazfocus said:I would forget the early termination, etc, the bit that's important is you have it in writing, from the estate agent that your tenancy will end on 31st July and that you'd already paid your last months rent.
