    3. Do you still think there is value in me contacting BW Legal with flight / hotel costs etc. to put them off?

  • "Found guilty?" It's not a criminal trial.

It's just a 'he said/she said' decision about a contract. Think of it as the ultimate dispute resolution meeting. That's all.

    Yes.

And tell them that even if their client wins, you won't be minded to pay and the CCJ would be unrecoverable as you live out of jurisdiction in NI.

To get it heard remotely would probably need you to make a N244 application at £119 fee.  Personally I'd concentrate instead, on prodding BW Legal and serving them with a full costs assessment, asap.

I sent the email to BW Legal last week but haven't heard anything back yet.

Is it worth me contacting the Court to see if there is an option to appear remotely without having to pay a charge?

Yes I would ring them and explain where you live and ask to speak to the court manager.

  • Comrades, good news!

This afternoon I received an email from the legal firm with a 'Notice of Discontinuance' from the Claimant to say they are withdrawing the case!! Sending them the hotel/flight costs etc. must have scared them off.

Thank you all very much for the great advice over many months, it is very much appreciated and another victory for this forum! If it wasn't for the resolve of the members here I might have caved and paid sooner so thank you for the steadfastness ha!
