Usage high despite boiler issue - boiler now fixed

Hello All, 

My mother is with British Gas, she had a issue with her boiler last year (some valve had stuck) so it was using twice and much gas.  Anyway, that's recently fixed and uses hardly anything now - Great! 

Because her monthly direct debit is still high (they go by your usage last year) she wants to switch from british but the quotes and switches to others providing are really high (even though she had that issue and they take the readings from last year) 

Is there Anyway to get around this? as the facts say, yes, her usage was high, but since the boiler has been fixed, she hardly uses any now

have been useless and don't want to know. 'we;ll get back to you' is all we get.

Direct debit payments are just payments paid on account from which actual charges for energy used are deducted. 

If she switches to Octopus, the App allows the consumer to set a monthly DD payment. That she needs to be realistic and bear in mind that Winter costs will be much higher than now. That said, she could switch and go for variable DD payments where the supplier will just recover the full cost of each monthly bill. She would retain the DD ‘discount’.
