Property ownership status in Scotland

Hi!

I am starting a small business of garden maintenance and am looking at going round door to door enquiries.

I am wondering if it is possible to view the property ownership status by address perhaps online.   For example, whether a property is owned direct by tenants or is rented?

You can look up the property on the landlord register, which is where it should be if it’s rented. But it’s a fairly slow process.
  • You can also search the Scottish Landlord Register for addresses but again that would be time consuming.  What difference does it make if a property is rented or has owner-occupiers.  If the property has a garden then generally some form of garden maintenance is required regardless of who is occupying the property.  It would seem silly to cut a potential group of customers simply because of their residential status.

landlord register only covers private landlords (if Landlord has bothered to register).  Council, housing association or Crown or Co-op i am not aware of any searchable info.  Most council & HA schemes are now very mixed after right2buy with owner-occupied or rented private.
