What is the item you ordered exactly?

A link to it would help.

you dont work for John Lewis do you? (serious question)
    Here we go.  :s

When asking for help, it helps if questions are answered, or you will not get the correct advice. Or people will just move on & not bother.

You aren’t being fobbed off. Some items can’t be returned in store that’s all. Contact JL and get it returned.

No. I do not work and have never worked for John Lewis.

I have no idea what relevance that has though - care to enlighten us on what you're insinuating? (Serious question)

You don't work for one of their competitors, do you? (not very serious question)

Obviously you have a right to return it and since it's arrived damaged that's at the cost of the seller but the best thing to have done would have been to contact them to arrange for them to collect the item.
There’s not even any guarantee of that. The OP themselves states they haven’t even opened the package so at the moment they’re just assuming the item is damaged.
