What operating systems do you use on the devices you want to access it on?
Which email provider do you use and do you know what servers they use?

    Any particular features you want/need?

Personally an Apple user but have decided to use Apple's Mail for my personal mail and Outlook for my Client's email (where they allow personal devices) so its easy to turn off their notifications out of hours but still get mine

Program? For an easy life, use webmail. e.g. www.gmail.com and use labels as folders if you need to organise your emails.
If you put your general location in your Profile, somebody here may be able to come and help you.

Yep, agree with that.  Used gmail in a browser and with various apps (macmal, Outlook).  Works well and consistently.

    Kind Regards,

There are lots of ways, both paid for and free. And you may already have one or more.
I have a domain hosted with Ionos, 'mysurname.UK' which comes with webmail '[email protected]'. (In fact I've set a 'catch-all' so that whatever is before the @ it still gets sent there).
    https://www.ionos.co.uk/domains/domain-name-price-comparison
That domain hosting costs me £12 a year (inc. VAT),
It comes with 2GB of email storage, enough to hold about 10,000 emails -if I wanted more email storage I could add it for a little more. (and if I wanted to put a website up on the domain as well as the email then that would cost more).
I also use a gmail, '[email protected]'.
    That costs nothing.
If you have an Android phone then you already have a Google account so already have a Gmail address.
Both can be accessed through any browser, and gmail has a pre-installed app on all Android phones.
(I actually set gmail to automatically forward all mail received to my own mail, so I can see it all in one place).
I also have BT broadband, so have an 'bt.com' email address with that, but don't use it (yet).

Used Mozilla Thunderbird for years, free and open source. Thunderbird allows for multiple providers (hotmail, yahoo, gmail your own domain) so you can send and receive from different mailboxes but also set up filters so incoming mail, even sent to different addresses is grouped in the same folder or category. Rules can be set to notify on specific emails, auto reply based on content, don't download content in emails, set up out of office, etc.

Don't use the online email portals as too much tracking performed by them. Also with Thunderbird you have a local backup of all your emails rather than relying on a free service.
