Peter Vardy not upholding warranty

Options
I'm asking for a colleague who bought a car from Peter Vardy 12 months ago, with a 24 month warranty.

The car has broken down and likely needs a drive shaft replacing. He went in to his local PV dealer, and they said they are backed up for weeks, there isn't anyone to book it in, and to get it fixed at an independent garage and claim on the warranty. I've gone through the policy and it says it needs to be taken to a PV dealer for repairs, but also repairs can't be approved unless an administrator has signed off on them, so basically this is not a suitable option.

He phoned the head office number and got the same type of resistance with them essentially refusing to uphold the warranty. I was going to phone them and quote some of their policy back to them, but what is the best approach to deal with this if they are still unhelpful?

Thanks

If they say it has to go  to a PV dealer, then that is what they have to do to claim under warranty.
There is no legal way to force them to do anything else under warranty.
So if going under warranty they are just going to have to wait till they can fix. (better double check that it will be covered under warranty as well, as many parts are not)

How old is the car etc?

The car is a 2016 reg. My colleague paid for a 24 month warranty on it, and there is still 12 months left on it.

He got the problem diagnosed at a different garage in the meantime, but after looking at the policy, it should be covered. He has held off on a repair, but after looking at the policy you can't make a warranty claim retrospectively, it has to be approved by them it seems.

It's just difficult to know what to do if they put up a wall, but if I talk to them on his behalf I may ask them if they are explicitly refusing to cover the warranty.

If I'm reading right the issue is about the speed at which PV can look at the car - anything beyond that on whether it's covered or not is supposition at the moment.

Assuming there's no 'time' element to the warranty as to how quickly repair will be effected then there are only 2 options

    1) wait for examination and hopefully repair under warranty
    2) take somewhere else for a quicker repair and pay

Decision will probably depend on cost of repair and how essential the quick repair is

Has anybody from Peter Vardy confirmed that the fault is covered under the warranty ?

Drive shafts and CV joints may be considered wear and tear items on a 7 year old vehicle.

Drive shafts?  In all the years I've been driving, I have never had to have a worn out drive shaft replaced.  CV joints maybe.
    If it sticks, force it.
If it breaks, well it wasn't working right anyway.
