Kitchen installation costs

Hi. We're in the process of house moving. We're viewing a property this weekend, and have plans to improve it. This includes interior changes and fitting a new kitchen.
Just trying to determine a realistic budget for installation of a good quality kitchen. I know that's probably vague and there are a lot of choices that can affect the total cost. But would be interested to hear from anyone who's put in a new kitchen recently, and how much it cost.

Theres too many variables with little information.
I have always used a rule of thumb that whatever the raw materials of the kitchen cost, double it to include the installation.

    As above, too much unknown.

You can save by buying the kitchen from one place and getting your own fitter to fit it, if you know someone handy. They aren't that complicated. My BIL fitted his dads and did a great job - he was a gas engineer but handy with tools. Depends on size etc. but his was a smallish kitchen and the units cost about £4k, fitting free, paid an electrician a small wadge to wire a light in, BIL fitted the gas oven.

Depends where you buy the kitchen as to whether you get them to fit it. If you know a good builder, ask them if they know any good kitchen fitters, who then might know the best local place to get your kitchen from.

Personally, I think you are probably better setting a budget for your kitchen, then choosing your kitchen to the budget. Fitting will probably be a few days work, maybe £1k per day for 2 people (depending on size of course).

Is it a like for like replacement or are you moving things around ? if your moving sink/oven etc. then you will need plumber/gas/electrician etc. etc. which adds to the cost

I did mine recently with my dad who is a carpenter, Its an old house and not 1 wall was straight either up/down and side to side so this adds extra time/complications. It is a bit of a how long is a piece of string question. Worth getting a few fixed quotes once you have decided exactly what you want

We're opening up the kitchen and separate dining room. The existing kitchen is the original one when the house was built many years ago. It's all going. New layout, however the plumbing will remain the same.
I appreciate it's a difficult one to answer

Interesting question. We're in a similar position where we are about to carry out a 6 meter extension. I got a very rough quote from a comany who manufactures and fits the kitchen. Very good quality and they estitmated around £25k-£30k with quarts worktops and fully fitted. Flooring and lighting will be extra. I'm based in North London.

    Hope this helps.

Thanks that's useful. I think our earmarked budget of £20k will probably be enough.
