Does anyone else find Pocket Sprung mattresses too hot?

I have been using a good quality Bonnell Sprung mattress for 10 years, its been great, but its time to upgrade.
But I have a major problem with over heating on other mattresses. Proper dripping!
Last year I tried 6 mattresses (up to a month of use each), and ALL caused me to sweat like crazy.
I know not to even bother with memory foam as that always causes issues on holiday.

I have tried all natural; non-foam etc; all pocket sprung. All have me roasting in the middle of the night. I even had my hormones checked to see if was that lol!
But I keep going back to my Bonnell mattress and when I do my temperature goes back to normal

I'm now thinking it's the compacted elements of pocket sprung so there's less airflow in relation to a Bonnell spring. Has anyone else noted this? or could it be something else?

No. We use Vispring mattresses, natural fillings, no sweat, pure comfort.0

I suffer from overheating in bed and haven't found a solution. Our recently purchased one has 2 layers of cooling gel but I can't really tell any difference.
Can't you just get another Bonnell sprung mattress? They are usually quite a bit cheaper than the techno ones.0 -

I;d be surprised that the springs being in little bags makes much difference to the thermal properties in comparison to whatever materials are on top of the springs. Have to say we have a Vispring too, one of the lower models, and it is great for many things but I do still get hot at night and especially when its got the protector on it.
I've found that the duvet and bedding make at least as much impact as anything else... some may not like it for the texture but we have 100% linen bedding which is naturally highly breathable and is slightly better at wicking sweat than cotton is. In an ideal world you'd probably have a merino wool / linen blend but its hard enough to find linen let alone such a blend. Tend also to use a very light tog duvet or just sheets for much of the year but live in a modern build flat so even with no heating on it doesnt drop below 18C even in the depths of winter.1 -

My duvet is a thin Wool (Baavet) Duvet, but maybe it's too good an insulator when combined with new mattresses
Or, maybe there's some weird psychological thing going on lol!.greensalad said:I have a John Lewis mattress from the naturals range. They do a 60 night trial as long as you buy the mattress cover in the same initial order.
I looked at the John lewis ones, unfortunately they only do exchanges and not full returns.

Does this happen in the winter too?
I have a top of the range Relyon which is deep and I find it very warm in summer, lively in winter
I put a bath sheet ie towling under a cotton sheet works for me.
I sometimes use a towel over my pillow if ive coloured hair that night.
I'm not a sweatter but have found I have a very comfortable sleep if I have a towel. No idea why. But it's cheaper than a mattress
Try itI can rise and shine - just not at the same time!

I bought a "polymer cooled" blanket for the dog to lay on. They do them human sized too! Maybe one of them underneath a nice percale cotton sheet on the mattress would help?0

We bought a very expensive bed with mattress that had a memory foam topper. We kept the bed but very quickly got rid of the mattress......someone got a bargain as we virtually gave it away. It was far to hot, couldn't live with it. We bought a relatively cheap IKEA mattress and we love it. Under a hundred quid, collect it yourself......happy days.0
