2nd Halifax credit card - hard search?

Hi all,

I’ve had a Halifax current account for years, and at the start of the year took out a balance transfer / purchase credit card with them, applied through the app & was approved immediately but no hard search was ever recorded on my credit report.

For the past few weeks when logging in to the app I’m getting a “second credit card? Take a look” message, so I completed the soft check and it confirmed I was pre-approved and what the limit would be.

My question is, if I were to go ahead and apply are they likely to do a hard search on this occasion?

I already have 2 so far this year so keen to avoid any further searches for the next 6 months or so.

Thanks

To add to the above - LBG make clear they will hard search you, but in many users recent experience this doesn't happen.
    YMMV.

They will not. Lloyds group banks are the only ones I know that don't run hard searches for any additional cards or accounts you apply for.

My first hard search from Halifax was in 2018 for a current account. Since then I opened 3 more current accounts and 2 credit cards with them. I applied for 3 new overdrafts and increased credit limits on cards numerous times. Apart from that first search in 2018, they never hard searched me again ever.

Same thing with Lloyds. First account opened in 2020, that was the first and only search from them. Another 2 current accounts and 2 credit cards, overdraft and CC limit increases - not a single hard search.
