How long is reasonable for a collect only item?

I won an auction on Thursday for a collect only item.  I have contacted the seller twice asking him/her to agree a day and time for collection but I am still yet to get a response.  I could really do with getting this soon as it's a tool we are in need of and would save us a lot of effort.  I suspect the seller didn't get as much as he would have liked and is hoping I will cancel the purchase.  I'm determined not to as I'll be damned if I'm going to save him paying his fees.

At what point can I do an INR?  Can I even do an INR on a collect only item?  I only seem to have the option to cancel but I'm not willing to do that because I do actually want it.  What options do I have?

Have you paid for the item? At the end of the day you're unlikely to be able to force the seller to complete the sale if they dont want to and the best you are going to do is get your money back either way.

If you want the item probably worth persisting a little more - Thursday to Sunday isn't THAT long and sometimes stuff does get in the way. They might be away for the weekend or whatever.

Failing that I think you just need to cancel and move on.

I can see how it's frustrating - the seller knew when the item ended, you'd expect them to be prepared for someone to want to collect it.  From the other side of it, if I were the seller I would expect a buyer to collect within a week; it doesn't sound like you want to wait that long but I would imagine most people would agree that longer is unreasonable, if the seller won't respond.

As you can't do an INR you could report them if they do end up cancelling the sale or just ignoring you.  On its own it may not do anything but if they keep doing it and keep being reported eBay should take notice.

That's perfectly reasonable, but would you expect them to collect within that week if you don't give them your address until day 6?

No, and I think my comment may have not come across as I intended due to poor wording - I meant if I were *a* seller of a collection-only item, not this seller in this situation.  I was just thinking of what might generally be reasonable.

Obviously you've made contact swiftly so you're definitely holding up your end of the bargain!
