How far back do lettings agencies/landlords go for landlord references?

I've been moving around alot the past few years (this is my fifth place since mid 2020). Only 1 of these places has been my own place, the rest have been houseshares. Unfortunately, I don't have the contact details for the past addresses so I assume it would be difficult for a future lettings agent/landlord to contact them. The current houseshare I live in is a 12 month contract. Thing is, I'm looking to move to my own place again (this time long-term). Will they only be interested in a reference from my newest landlord, or will they go further back? Note: The reason I've moved around so much is to find the perfect job/place to live. I haven't been evicted from any of these tenancies and have not moved out before contract ended. Am I thinking too much into it?
