I cancelled our Santander 123 credit card as I did not think it was worth paying the fee.  We did get cashback on groceries and fuel but it became less generous as Santander reduced the amounts given.  I do have two credit cards which I pay off in full each month and I use them mainly for larger items for the S75 protection and abroad or on holiday to save worrying about how much is in our current account.  I don't really like using them though.

In the mid-1990s there was! Mine changed into a normal Barclaycard, presumably when I finished my studies, then I closed it a few years later when they introduced a £10 annual fee.

As a matter of mere idle curiosity, how was a student Barclaycard different from an ordinary one?

I don't recall any £10 fee,and certainly wouldn't have paid it. Irrelevant, though, since I dumped Barclaycard in 1990, when I got a First Direct Visa instead.
