I'm doing a probate and need to post in the gazette in case they owe money. I have read some people also post in a newspaper. Will I be covered against future claims against the estate if I only post in the gazette?. Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks

I suppose it would make sense if you actually thought it likely that there'd be a creditor who reads such notices in the local paper (and who doesn't also subscribe to the Gazette), though unless you had particular reasons for such suspicion I wouldn't bother with either.0

Didn't do either in the two estates I've been executor for, but much depends on how well you know the finances of the deceased (and your attitude to risk).1

If you must put a notice up then The Gazette is all you need to do. Any major financial institution will/should be checking this.1

isn't it just that it protects the exec / admin ? If there genuinely is a debt that appears later then the beneficiaries are still liable0

I'm joint executor of a relatives estate and nearing completion now. We didn't bother with either, mainly as she had spent 4 years in a care home and as PofA we would have been aware of any potential debts unless she had a secret gambling addiction!
