IHD suddenly thinks we have smart gas meter

We had a smart electricity meter installed in March of this year. We wanted a smart gas meter too but the installer didn't like our pipework and said it couldn't be done.
After a week or two the IHD (a GEO Trio 11) worked fine, and still does, but this morning the display changed and instead of the electricity usage filling the screen, it changed to show both gas and electricity. It is asking us to enter a budget for gas, though the various references to gas in the IHD menu are greyed out.
Does anyone have an idea what might have caused this?
I could ask EDF but based on previous experience, I'd get more sense from our neighbours three year old

Is your gas meter a SMETS1 that EDF can now communicate with ?Never pay on an estimated bill. Always read and understand your bill0

Hi,is gas meter details and meter reading on IHD same as actual meter?0

No, it's a conventional totally non-smart meter.Robin9 said:Is your gas meter a SMETS1 that EDF can now communicate with ?0 -
The IHD energy today and energy now screens are split and electricity details are showing correctly. The gas display shows 0.00 usage. Gas is now referenced in the IHD menus, though they are greyed out and not selectable so there are no meter details or readings available. Prior to today, the IHD had absolutely no reference to gas on any of the displays or menus.frugalmacdugal said:Hi,is gas meter details and meter reading on IHD same as actual meter?1 -
Interestingly, I have just looked at the IHD status information. It says re gas "Gas meter not connected Status 29-2 Connected to the meter network, but not receiving all gas meter data. Please wait for service to be restored"
Pretty clever in view of never having a smart gas meter.
I wonder if somehow, somebody else's gas meter has been linked in some way to our account?0 -
Likely a system update by the supplier? I appeared to not have a smart meter of any sort for nearly 5 years and suddenly 6 months after switching suppliers they were getting readings without my interference. So something must have been installed at some point that didn't work with our initial supplier (Bulb), nor at the start of the new supplier (Eon) but now it does. I've checked that it's accurate too so now I don't have to fuss. which is nice.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on Debt Free Wannabe, Old Style Money Saving and Pensions boards. It may be due to a system update, but if so, I hope they manage to correct whatever they have got wrong.Brie said:Likely a system update by the supplier?
