Passport validity

Hi, travelling to Greece on 4th August. Passport expires on 14.08.24 but was issued on 14.11.13. Is this sufficient to travel? thanks!

Hi. The rules are:
Your passport should be valid for at least 3 months after the date you intend to leave the EU and it must have been issued within the last 10 years.
So on the assumption that you aren't going to stay in Greece for an extended period then yours appears to fit into that criteria.1 -
Thanks!
returning on 18th August.
was just a bit confused as if my passport is 10 years from 14/11/13 this is 14/11/23. Less 3 months is 14/08/23.
so they look at date of issue for validity to travel but passport expiry for the return (even if it’s over 10 years less the 3 months )?0 -

So I suspect the OP may have issues.2 -

Martin_the_Unjust said:As I understand it currently your passport must be less than 9 years 6 months from the date of issue when you enter the EU and 9 years and 9 months from the issue date when you plan to exit the EU.
So I suspect the OP may have issues.
official rulesYour passport must be:
- issued less than 10 years before the date you enter the country (check the ‘date of issue’)
- valid for at least 3 months after the day you plan to leave (check the ‘expiry date’)
- OPs ‘expiry date’ is 14/08/24 so fine on that point also1 -

No, your understanding is mistaken.

Can I ask where you got this information or is it just your understanding?
Mine was cut and pasted from the europa.eu website and the same information is posted on the Gov website. I'll paste it below just to ensure there are no misunderstandings.'Passport, entry and visa requirements
If you are a national from a country outside the EU wishing to visit or travel within the EU, you will need a valid passport and possibly a visa. Your passport should be valid for at least 3 months after the date you intend to leave the EU and it must have been issued within the last 10 years. This means your travel document must have been issued within the previous 10 years the day you enter the EU on condition that is it valid until the end of your stay plus an additional 3 months.'
So, no the OP won't have issues.
I don't mean to be rude so please excuse me if I come across like that, but there is often so much misinformation posted on this when it's ridiculously simple.

After the 14th November this year you may have issues.1
