Buying a motorbike
Options
I have bought a motorbike
Please can someone talk me through the process step-by-step. Obviously I need to pay but what do I need to check on arrival and what paperwork should I expect?
Insurance already sorted and I know to do the tax online once I have the log book. I have paid a deposit (by credit card) and plan to pay the rest either by credit card if they accept or debit card via their card reader.
Thank-you. I have never bought a vehicle by myself before.

Sounds like you’re buying from a dealer. New or second-hand? Either way, you’ll have to tax the bike before you ride away. If new, you won’t have the V5 yet - the dealer will sort it out with you using your details. If second-hand, follow the instructions on the V5, and tax the bike online using the V5 details. Make sure you send off the relevant parts of the V5 - don’t trust the dealer to do it for you (they’re busy people).
And get a dated and timed receipt - just to make sure any speeding fines you pick up are absolutely going to be yours1 -
Thank-you! Yes buying from a dealer who is delivering.
So there will be a dated and timed receipt and a V5 which I fill in and post?Debt Free: 01/01/2020
