Sainsburys Bank Defined Access Saver.

Anyone know how to close one of these accounts?

The help information states:-
"If you’re registered, you can close your account using our online banking service. Just log in, go to the 'My Accounts' section and select the account you want to close. You'll see the option to ‘close’ on the right hand side."

This does not work. There is no 'close' option.

Correct. I think it depends which browser you use. There is certainly not a close function using Edge.

Send a Secure Message. I transfer the bulk of my funds first leaving £1 then send a secure message asking for the account to be closed with the remaining capital and any accrued interest to be sent where-ever (usually the latest issue account I've already opened and transferred the bulk of the funds to already).

Thanks. I just tried MS Edge and the 'close' menu option now appears.
The 'close' option opens a new window.
I suspect that's why the menu option doesn't appear when using Firefox + uBlock Origin.
Sainsburys Bank should give this information on their help page.

I'm now on my 8th Defined Access Saver account.
Each time you open a new account to get the latest interest rate, you end up with a ream of paper through the post as if you were a new customer. A total waste of time and resources. If they were to pass on interest rate increases to existing account holders it would save both time and money.

Their Customer Service phone is bad too. I tried calling 08085 40 50 60. The first three times I got an 'invalid number' message.
Eventually I got through to some kind of 'AI answering' system followed by the inevitable queue + annoying music. After waiting over 10 minutes I gave up. Luckily by that time I had picked up the reply from mebu60 and managed to close the account online.
